I love avocados. I hate when you bring avocados home that aren’t ripe yet, and then when you check them they are OVER ripe and it seems like it happens between breakfast and lunch.
I have two tips to tell if your Avocado is ripe and at the perfect level of readiness!
1. Press down very lightly on the top of the avocado, right beside the stem. Use the same pressure you would use on your computer mouse. If it gives easily and doesn’t leave a dent, it’s ready to eat. If it leaves a dent, it’s probably overripe.
2. Flick the stem at the top of the avocado. If it comes off easily and you seen green flesh underneath it, the avocado is ripe. If it doesn’t come off, or you seen brown underneath it, the avocado is either not yet ripe or overripe.
Use these 2 tips instead of squeezing the avocado. Squeezing and one can leave a bruise, and nobody wants a bruised avocado.
